Aloin

Aloin is a natural chemical found in the skin of the “Aloe Vera” plant that has laxative effects when orally consumed by humans. It is present in the **latex coating** found on the interior part of the leaf’s rind, which is **not safe for consumption**. To avoid aloin, follow these steps:

  1. Fillet aloe leaves lengthwise into halves.
  2. Carefully slice off the outer layer of skin with a sharp knife.
  3. Thoroughly rinse the resulting inner gel.
  4. Consume the inner gel immediately or refrigerate it.

On a commercial scale, products like “AloeCure Juice” remove aloin using a process called decolorization, ensuring safety for consumption. Other Aloe Vera products may use charcoal filtration or added enzymes, but these methods can strip away other beneficial components naturally found in Aloe Vera. Remember, the gel within the center of the leaf is the nutrient-rich part that contains little to no aloin
