Peregrine Falcon That Inspired Suzuki Hayabusa

The Suzuki Hayabusa is a legendary sportbike that has been in production since 1999. It is known for its incredible speed, performance and aerodynamics. The name Hayabusa means “peregrine falcon” in Japanese, a bird that can reach speeds of over 300 km/h (186 mph) when diving. The Hayabusa was designed to be the fastest production motorcycle in the world, and it achieved this feat in 1999 and 2000, when it reached a top speed of 303 to 312 km/h (188 to 194 mph). Since then, the Hayabusa has been limited to 299 km/h (186 mph) due to an informal agreement between manufacturers to avoid regulatory restrictions.

The latest generation of the Hayabusa was launched in 2021 as a 2022 model. It features a refined and muscular inline four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1,340 cc (81.8 cu in). The engine has new electronic throttle bodies, dual fuel injectors, symmetrical twin silencers and a revised intake and exhaust system. The engine produces a claimed power of 129 kW (173 hp) and a torque of 150 N⋅m (110 lb⋅ft). The Hayabusa also has a comprehensive suite of electronic rider aids, such as cruise control, bi-directional quick shift, traction control, launch control, engine brake control, anti-lock braking system and hill hold control. The rider can customize the settings of these features through a TFT LCD instrument panel and a Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) switch on the left handlebar.

The Hayabusa has a twin-spar aluminum frame that provides stability and agility. The suspension consists of a fully adjustable KYB inverted front fork and a link-type rear shock absorber. The brakes are Brembo Stylema four-piston radial-mount front calipers with 320 mm (12.6 in) discs and a Nissin single-piston rear caliper with a 260 mm (10.2 in) disc. The wheels are cast aluminum alloy with Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tires. The Hayabusa has a distinctive aerodynamic bodywork that reduces drag and improves wind protection. The bodywork has three color schemes: Glass Sparkle Black & Candy Burnt Gold, Metallic Matte Sword Silver & Candy Daring Red, or Pearl Brilliant White & Metallic Matte Stellar Blue.
